Vicki L. Washington Principal
Mrs. Washington is the principal of the A+ Arts Academy | Junior High School on the Napoleon campus.
A goal-driven individual with an intrinsic flair for innovation and high energy, Mrs. Vicki Washington uses creativity, consistency and passion with the curriculum to ensure that students are able to reach their personal and academic goals and become successful achievers. The evolution into an administrator was a natural progression given the role Mrs. Washington has taken with regard to education.
She began working for the Columbus City School System in 2001. Before embarking on education she was employed with Franklin County Children Services, and it was through that experience that she realized that her true calling was to work within the schools - where it would be possible for her to impact children on a different level. With that in mind, she returned to college to obtain the necessary methodology and teaching strategies required by the state to allow her to teach Language Arts classes. It was later that she returned to obtain her Master of Education and Curriculum. She also holds an Alternative Principal License as well as has a Credentialed Teacher Evaluator.
Mrs. Washington is married and mother of four children, all females. As an administrator she has implemented programs to focus on positive behavior and self-control. As well as self-awareness, problem-solving strategies, see something say something campaign, and personal responsibility activities. Parents are welcome to come into the building to volunteer with various projects, including mentors and speakers.
